SEC, CBS agree to 15-year extension

By The Associated Press
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Southeastern Conference has agreed to a 15-year contract extension with CBS Sports to broadcast football and basketball games.

The agreement announced Thursday takes effect next year.

CBS will carry a football game of the week along with prime-time games and doubleheaders and continue to broadcast regular-season SEC basketball games.

The agreement also covers other platforms, including certain digital and Internet rights.

The league's TV deals with ESPN, Raycom Sports and FSN South expire after the academic year. Slive has said the SEC's options include an SEC Network similar to ones started by the Mountain West and Big Ten conferences and the NFL.

SEC spokesman Charles Bloom said the league continues to explore its options.
