Hearing planned on huge S. Hall multi-use project

FLOWERY BRANCH - Plans for a multi-use development in Flowery Branch that include a five-level parking deck get a public airing later this month.

Hortman & Dobbs Developers, LLC., plans the redevelopment of the former Country Craft Furniture facility and several surrounding properties.

James Riker, the Community Development Director for the city, said Friday the project has been discussed "here in the city over the last, probably, year and a half."

Hortman & Dobbs is requesting that the city approve construction of a mixed-use development covering several blocks that would include the construction of six main buildings.

According to documents on file with the city, they are:

-Pine Street North Building (two stories - office/retail building)
-Pine Street South Building (three stories - office/retail with living above)
-Railroad Avenue Building (four stories - office/retail with living above)
-Restaurant Building (two stories - retail/restaurant)
-Chattahoochee Street Townhomes (Six units)
-Off-street parking deck (Five level deck with 262 =B1spaces).

Also planned in an extension of Pine Street (from Church Street to Railroad Avenue) and a park area consisting of about half-an-acre.

The public hearing will be held Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
