Three MSU football players plead guilty

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Three Mississippi State football players, who the school announced have been readmitted to the university, each pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an arrest.

The pleas of starting cornerback Anthony Johnson, reserve linebacker Jamon Hughes and reserve defensive tackle Rodney Prince stem from the March 27 on-campus shooting that resulted in the arrest of defensive lineman Quinton Wesley and all-Southeastern Conference offensive lineman Mike Brown.

Hughes, Johnson and Prince withdrew from school shortly afterward. MSU coach Sylvester Croom has said the trio had an ``indirect'' role in the shooting.
Oktibbeha County Justice Court records show the three players were each fined $638.50.

The school says the three may practice with the team, but are ineligible to compete in the upcoming season.

Croom said the decision represents a ``second chance'' for the athletes.
