Firefighters responded to a report of a tree down into an apartment building at 2502 Windy Hill Point at The Greens at Hillcrest Apartments.
"Crews found a large tree that fell into the roof and damaged the ceiling over a children's bedroom," according to Capt. Tommy Rutledge of the Gwinnett County Fire Department. "Several small children were reportedly in the room at the time but were not injured. The children were downstairs at the time of the 911 call."
The tree caused extensive damage to the roof and ceiling over a single-apartment unit, coming to rest in the attic above the apartment.
Firefighters evacuated the six-unit building as a precaution.
