Report: Gainesville native was strangled

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Gainesville native found dead in his Nashville, Tenn., home Monday apparently had been strangled. That's according to NewsChannel 5 in Nashville.

Other reports out of Nashville Wednesday morning said an autopsy confirmed that Jim Cannon, a Nashville lawyer who was in the middle of a bitter divorce, was murdered.

Police do not have any suspects but say they have questioned his estranged wife, Kelley.

Police spokesman Don Aaron says the couple's three children were with her at another location when Jim Cannon's body was found, even though he had custody of them and a judge had ordered her to stay away from them and her husband.

Aaron says Cannon's body was found in a bedroom closet by a housekeeper about 10 a.m. Monday.
