Georgia takes on Stanford in CWS tonight

OMAHA, Neb. - Georgia (42-23-1) and Stanford (40-22-2) meet tonight and upstart Fresno State (43-29) plays the North Carolina Tar Heels (55-12) on Tuesday in College World Series games that will determine the front-runners in Brackets 1 and 2.

Monday's elimination game pits the top-seeded Miami Hurricanes (42-23-1) against Atlantic Coast Conference rival Florida State (54-13). Rice (47-14) and LSU (48-18-1) also will meet on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs posted a ninth-inning, 7-4 comeback win over Miami in the two teams' first game in the CWS on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Stanford defeated Florida State 16-5 in the Cardinal's game-one win.

Eight teams advance to the College World Series, which is a double elimination tournament -- until the championship series, which is a best-of-three format between the winners of brackets one and two. Georgia is in bracket one with Miami, Florida State and Stanford. Bracket two consists of Louisiana State, North Carolina, Fresno and Rice.
