ATLANTA -- Chipper Jones is hurting, and so are the Atlanta Braves.
Jones was held out of Sunday's 6-to-3 loss to Philadelphia due to a small tear in his right quadriceps, and he's not certain when he'll return to the lineup. It was the third straight loss for the Braves, who fell six and one-half games behind the Phillies.
The Braves are off on Monday and begin a 10-game road trip at the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday. Jones, who is hitting .420, said he won't test the injury before Tuesday.
The team has more injury problems. John Smoltz will have season-ending shoulder surgery on Tuesday. Closer Rafael Soriano missed the last three games of the homestand with a sore elbow.
