DALTON - Legendary Gainesville High School head football coach Bobby Gruhn was inducted into the Georgia Athletic Coaches (GACA) Hall of Fame Saturday.

Gruhn began his career in Gainesville in 1954. By the time he retired in 1992, he had compiled a record of 255 wins, 103 losses and five ties. He is tied for 18th on the all-time winning list of Georgia coches.

His teams made the playoffs 23 times, were region champs 16 times, made eleven trips to the Final Four, and played in the state finals four times.

The field at City Park Stadium is named for him.

During the induction ceremony, which was held at the Northwest Georgia Convention and Trade Center in Dalton, Gruhn, who died in 1995, was also remembered for his contributions to the GACA and the Georgia High School Association.

GACA officials announced late last year that Gruhn would be a 2008 inductee.

There are now 46 members of the GACA Hall of Fame. The first inductions were held in 2001.
