By Staff reports
ATHENS - A total of 261 University of Georgia student athletes posted a grade point average of 3.0 or higher for spring semester, according to figures released by the University of Georgia Athletic Association.

Included amongst these athletes were Hall County natives Tasha Humphrey, Alex McRee, Derek Rich and Devin Hollander.

The 261 athletes, who represent 50.6 percent of all UGA student-athletes, were rewarded for their accomplishments by being named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

Humphrey, a Gainesville High grad, spent her last semester on campus this spring before joining the Detroit Shock of the WNBA after getting drafted in April. McRee, a sophomore pitcher, was a standout at Chestatee High. North Hall graduate Derek Rich transferred to Georgia from Connecticut this spring, and will have to sit out the upcoming season due to NCAA regulations. He joins fellow Trojan Devin Hollander, who transferred to Georgia from Shorter College in Rome.

Of the 261 student-athletes, nine were named Presidential Scholars for earning a 4.0 average, and 30 were named to the Dean's List for having an average between 3.50 and 3.99.
