BRASELTON -- Eighteen racers started the 20-lap semi-pro Legends race at lanier National Speedway started innocently enough Saturday night.
A wild flurry in the middle of the race, however, whittled the number of cars to six and Justin Swilling came out of the pack to win the race, which was shortened to 11 laps after more than 30 minutes of cautions, for his first-ever victory at the 3/8ths-mile oval.
The 20-lap Sportsman race saw an old familiar face in the winner's circle as Mark Caudell won his first race at Lanier since 2001 in winning from flag-to-flag.
In the Legends pro masters race Steve Ross also led from start-to-finish in taking the victory in the pro division. Clay Hair finished third overall and was the master's winner.
In the 30-lap Pro Late Model race, Shawn Simpson took the lead on Lap 25 and then held off Fredrick Moore for the win. Rodney Benefield was third and Lee Hansard fourth.
Joey Love passed Chris Holbrook on Lap 12 and then cruised to his second straight win in the 30-lap open-wheeled modified division.
Mike Childers won for the fifth time in the last six races in the Street Stock division, which was 15 laps.
In the Bandeleros, Dylan Bassett got his second straight win in the Bandits division while Justin Thomas won his second straight race in the Young Guns division.
Paul Antley took the 20-lap supertrucks race and Nick Stroupe of Concord, N.C., won the 30-lap Southern Pro Challenge Touring Series race.
The Southern Pro Challenge Touring Series is an event which features scaled down Sprint Cup cars.
