Authorities release victim's name in Buford Hwy. wreck

BUFORD - Authorities have released the name of the Sugar Hill man killed in a wreck on Buford Highway near Enterprise Drive Thursday.

Gwinnett County Police spokesman David Schiralli said 39-year-old Averardo Lopez's car was struck in the passenger side as he was making a U-turn on Buford Highway.

Schiralli said Lopez was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

He said the man who hit Lopez, 21-year-old Nicholas Schnepper of Flowery Branch, faces a number of charges, including driving under the influence. Schiralli said Schnepper could face additional charges as the investigation continues.
