JEFFERSON -- Bubba Pollard, of Senoia, took advantage of the bad luck of 2007 Georgia Asphalt Series champion Russell Fleeman on Sunday to win the GAS Spring 100 at Peach State Speedway in Jefferson.
Fleeman was checking out on the field when he developed a flat tire, sending the No. 98 car to the pits. Pollard took the lead and took the win. Fleeman returned to the track after changing the flat and battled through the field to finish second.
Fleeman had set the fastest time, winning the Sunoco/Bearden Oil Company Pole Award with an 18.035 on the 1/2 mile oval at Peach State.
The only crash of the race occurred on lap 46 when Roger Delp and Kevin Perry collided on the front straightaway, sending both of them into the inside retaining wall. Neither driver was able to continue.
The GAS Series returns to action this Friday night at Anderson Motor Speedway in Anderson, S.C. For more information, log onto www.andersonmotorspeedway.com and www.georgiaasphaltseries.com.
