COLUMBIA, S.C. - James Darnell hit three home runs to lead South Carolina to a 13-7 win over Kentucky on Saturday.
Darnell went 4-for-5 and drove in six runs. It's the second time this season the junior has tied a school record with three home runs in a game.
Phil Disher and Reese Havens also hit home runs as the Gamecocks (17-7, 5-3 Southeastern Conference) pounded out 16 hits and led 9-3 after four innings. Collin Cowgill went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for the Wildcats (22-3, 5-3).
South Carolina starter Will Atwood (3-0) got the win, while Kentucky starter Scott Green (2-1) gave up eight runs and lasted just three innings to pick up the loss.
