STARKVILLE, Miss. - Gordon Beckham hit his Southeastern Conference-leading 14th home run and Georgia beat Mississippi State 5-1 Saturday to even the three-game series.
Beckham snapped a string of 15 hitless at-bats with his solo homer in the third inning for Georgia (14-10, 5-3 SEC), which lost 3-2 to Mississippi State (11-14, 2-6) in 10 innings Friday on a wild pitch.
Matt Olson hit a solo home run and Ryan Peisel drove in two runs with a double to make it 4-0 in the fourth inning.
Georgia chased Mississippi State starter Lee Swindle (2-2) the next inning and Stephen Dodson (4-1) earned the win with four strikeouts in seven innings.
