UNDATED - A time line has been established for getting a 5-year-old Iraqi boy, befriended by a Gainesville Marine, to South Carolina for heart surgery.

Maj. Kevin Jarrard said Thursday in an e-mail from Iraq that Ammar Hammad Mohammed is scheduled to leave Baghdad with his father April 4.

Jarrard said plans call for them to fly first to Amman, Jordan, and then leave there April 5 for Charleston, S.C.

The operation will be performed at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Most of the expenses will be picked up by the Charleston Rotary Club's Gift of Life Program. (See earlier story).
