NORFOLK, Va. - A cheerleader from Georgia was carried off the court on a stabilizing backboard and admitted to a hospital after landing hard on her back during a routine Sunday at the women's NCAA tournament.

Christine Conley, a senior from Milan, Ga., was admitted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and was to be held overnight for observation and tests, Georgia team physician Fred Reifspect said. He gave no other information about Conley's condition.

The first-round game between Georgia and Iowa was delayed several minutes in the second half while Conley lay at center court after hitting the court hard. The crowd watched in silence while medical staff attended to her. She was cheered when she moved her legs, and when she was wheeled off on a stretcher.

Iowa was leading 34-33 with 14:18 remaining when the delay came, but the Bulldogs rallied to win 67-61, advancing to the second round against North Carolina on Tuesday.
