DULUTH -- Travis Leslie and Kenny Mitchell scored 17 points apiece to lead Columbia to a 69-63 win over Fayette County in the Class AAAA Georgia High School Association state championship on Friday.
The Eagles (30-3) won their second title in the last three years. Columbia returned to the championship game after having its 51-game winning streak snapped by Tucker in a 56-51 defeat last year.
Columbia took a 61-58 lead with 2:33 left in the fourth quarter on Leslie's 3-pointer. JerShon Cobb connected on a three-point play to put the Eagles ahead by six points.
Cuincy Carruthers scored on a layup and Noel Johnson followed with a 3 to cut the margin to 65-63 with 21.1 seconds left in the game for Fayette County (23-10). Carruthers had a game-high with 25 points.
But the Eagles put the game away after David Forest and Darrius Morrow made their next four free throws. Morrow scored 15 points.
Johnson scored 12 points for Fayette County.
