Lady Trojans shut out Athens Academy (2/29)

WATKINSVILLE - The North Hall girls soccer team took an impressive 5-0 win over Athens Academy Friday night on the road.

Anna Kate Wright found Tess Patton on a nice pass to give the Lady Trojans a quick 1-0 lead just five minutes into the game.

Later in the first half, Julia Matthews hit a streaking Bradee Burrell, who found the net to push North Hall's lead to 2-0 by halftime.

The Lady Trojans (3-0-1) put the game away with three goals in the second half. Matthews got a goal of her own on an assist from Laura Lane at the 28:52 mark for a 3-0 lead.

One minute later Lane scored on a pass from Burrell to give the Lady Trojans a commanding 4-0 lead. Burrell scored a second goal late in the game to make it 5-0.

North Hall defenders limited Athens Academy to just five shots on goal while the North Hall offense peppered the Lady Spartans with 30 shots for the game.

Mary Mancin recorded her third shutout of the season.

North Hall will play host to West Hall on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
