DOT open houses will focus on SR 365, 400 corridor studies

By Ashley Cox
GAINESVILLE - The Georgia Department of Transportation is finishing a study of the State Route 365 and 400 corridors in north Georgia, and plans to present its findings to the public in March.

"We're looking at those sections of both roads because they are heavily traveled," said Teri Pope with the DOT.

"We want to plan for projected development and see what the community wants those roads to look like 10, 20, 30 years from now."

The meetings are the last stages of the study before it is finalized by the DOT.

Presentation boards showing representations of the corridors will be displayed and interactive stations will allow participants to document travel patterns and identify issues along the corridor.

Staff will be on hand to interact one-on-one with the public, to receive input and answer questions.

"These meetings are really to present all the findings to the community and make sure we understand what their needs and wants are for the roadways," Pope said.

The open house focusing on SR 365 in Hall and Habersham counties will be March 4 at Lula Elementary School from 5 to 7 p.m.

An open house focusing on SR 400 in Dawson and Forsyth counties will be March 6 at Black's Mill Elementary School in Dawsonville.
