Former UGA football player killed in car crash

By The Associated Press
ATHENS - A former football walk-on for the University of Georgia has died from injuries he sustained in a car-truck collision near Madison.

Nineteen-year-old Joshua Willis of Americus died yesterday after he was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center.

Morgan County Coroner Adam Carter says Willis was headed north on Georgia Highway 83 when his vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer truck that was believed to be heading south.

Senior Jeff Henson -- Georgia's top long snapper -- says Willis was a long snapper for Georgia on the 2006 team and was considering returning to the team this spring.

Willis played at Sumter County High School, where his father, Carl, is on the football staff.
