Ga. gas prices still falling

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
ATLANTA - Gasoline prices across Georgia are at their lowest level in nearly five years, and may continue to fall.

AAA Georgia said Monday, the statewide average price for a gallon of regular is $1.53, down 20 cents since last month.

In the Gainesville area, gasbuddy.com, reports the cheapest Monday morning was in Buford, where two stations were selling regular for $1.36. It was $1.39 at several outlets in Oakwood, Suwanee and Cumming. AccessNorthGa.com's Jerry Gunn found it for $1.37 at three outlets in the Chestnut Mountain area and $1.36 on Atlanta Road in Gainesville.

The national average for regular is $1.61.

Mid-grade fuel averaged $1.65 while premium costs $1.72 a gallon.

Gas prices declined despite crude oil rising above $40 a barrel Monday amid growing tensions in the Middle East.
