Georgia basketball upset by another minnow

By The Associated Press
ATHENS -- Kevin Palmer hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Texas A&M-Corpus Christi an 80-79 overtime win over Georgia on Monday night.

Georgia (7-4) looked to have salvaged a win after Dustin Ware hit one of two free throws with 3.2 seconds to play in overtime, giving the Bulldogs a 79-77 lead.

But Palmer was able to penetrate close enough for a shot near half court that banked off the glass and in as time expired. It was the sixth 3-pointer of the game for Palmer, who led the Islanders (6-6) with 31 points.

Demond Watt also chipped in with 14 points.

Ware came off the bench to lead the Bulldogs with 22 points, while Travis Leslie scored 19 and Trey Thompkins added 13.

Georgia led by three points at the break, but the Islanders outscored the Bulldogs 41-38 in the second half and 14-13 in the extra frame.
