Lula house fire considered 'suspicious'

LULA - Fire investigators are considering a fire that broke out at a home in the Lula area on Monday night to be suspicious.

Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle said the call came in around 10 p.m. to a home in the 8900 block of Forrester Road, off of Skitts Mountain Road.

"We also worked a dump truck fire at the same residence about three weeks prior to this house fire...so we are looking at both incidents as being suspicious," Cagle said, adding that the home was vacant at the time of the fire.

When firefighters arrived, Cagle said the 1,100-square-foot wood frame home was already fully involved. The home, which was a one-story home with a basement, has been ruled a complete loss.

"Everything right now is pretty much just a pile of rubble in the basement, and it's still smoking this morning," Cagle said.

Investigators will be back on the scene Tuesday morning to collect evidence.
