GAINESVILLE - The Chestatee girls basketball team opened its season with a 47-41 win over St. Pius Friday night.
Chelsea Wilson poured in 18 points and Peyton Robertson added 15 to lead the Lady War Eagles (1-0).
The Chestatee defense was stingy in the first half holding St. Pius to 11 points, just four in the second quarter. Chestatee led 10-7 after the first quarter but led 20-11 at halftime.
St. Pius (0-1) cut the lead to 33-28 by the end of the third quarter but Chestatee held on for the win in the fourth quarter.
Melissa Bailey added 7 points, Jessica Porter 5, and Shelby Bright 2 for the Lady War Eagles. Chestatee next will Saturday at home against Class AAAAA Milton.
