DOT to discuss plans for new Lula area bridge

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - The Georgia Department of Transportation announces a public information open house meeting to discuss proposed bridge replacement and road realignment on State Route 52 over the Chattahoochee River in Lula.

The open house is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 at Lula Elementary School.

Georgia DOT engineers will be available to discuss the proposed project. There will be no formal presentation.

"Along with replacing the bridge, we plan to straighten out some curves and flatten the road around the bridge," DOT District Engineer Russell McMurry said. "We will work on a mile long section of SR 52 at the bridge."

Anyone unable to attend the public information open house may send comments on the project to Glenn Bowman, Georgia DOT, 3993 Aviation Circle, Atlanta, GA, 30336. All comments will be considered in the development of the final project design and must be received by Dec. 16.

Online the plans will also be available on the DOT Web site at www.dot.ga.gov the day after the open house. On the home page choose "Public Outreach" and select the project's county and choose "Go." A list of DOT projects in that county will appear and you can select the one you'd like to view.
