ATHENS -- Georgia, moving closer to its season-opener, has named three players as captains for its 2008-09 basketball season.
Coach Dennis Felton said Monday that seniors Corey Butler and Terrance Woodbury and junior Albert Jackson have been elected by their teammates as tri-captains.
Butler joined the team as a walk-on in 2006 and retained that status last season before winning a scholarship.
Woodbury was a leader in Georgia's surprising Southeastern Conference tournament championship run in Atlanta last season.
Georgia opens its season at home on Friday night against USC-Upstate.
