BUFORD - Fire investigators have ruled arson in two Buford house fires early Tuesday morning.
Gwinnett County Fire Capt. Thomas Rutledge said firefighters responded to a fire at a vacant mobile home on Gold Creek Trail just after 5 a.m. While they were fighting that fire, he said they noticed smoke coming from a house one street over on Pine Street.
"Due to the time frame and close proximity, we have ruled these two fires as arson," he said.
Rutledge said both homes were vacant at the time of the fire. He said no one was injured in either incident.
"There is a reward offered by Georgia Arson Control Incorporated of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of persons responsible for arson," he said.
Rutledge asked anyone with information to contact the Gwinnett Fire & Explosives Section at 678-518-4890 or the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-282-5804.
