Evans named to state board

ATLANTA - The Cumming man who gave up a seat on the Georgia Board of Transportation to pursue a romantic relationship with state Department of Transportation Commissioner Gena Abraham is back in state government.

Mike Evans, who married Abraham shortly after leaving the DOT board, has been named to the state Board of Community Affairs by Gov. Sonny Perdue.

Evans is the owner of Mike A. Evans Homes Inc.

He served in the Georgia House of Representatives for eight years and was elected Republican Caucus Chair for three terms. He also served as former U.S. Senator Paul Coverdellâ
