Lake Lanier Islands CVB unveils new look

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - The Lake Lanier Convention & Visitors Bureau (formerly the Gainesville/Hall County Convention & Visitors Bureau) this week is unveiling a new logo, a new visitors guide and two vehicles that will be used for promotional/marketing purposes.

The organization is also already preparing to host the Governor's Tourism Conference in Gainesville in late summer of 2009.

"Our new name, logo and visitors guide magazine have all generated positive buzz and are drawing even more attention to this region," CVB President Stacey Dickson said. "Lake Lanier and the surrounding area offer such a diverse base of attractions, activities and family events, plus it's an easy drive from Atlanta to encourage vacation and recreation close to home."

The name change was officially announced last spring by Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle at the Tour de Georgia events in Hall County. Dickson said following extensive market research, the bureau adopted a new logo in blue and green - an anchor of two "Ls" that signifies water-related recreation - and that Lake Lanier is a great place to "drop anchor" for the night when visiting the region.

Slip Away, the new visitors guide, will be published twice a year and features a magazine format that tells the stories of the people of the region who are the lifeblood of the hospitality community. Features on local favorites, including restaurants, attractions and events that take place at the Islands, will help present a more in depth portrait of the area for visitors.

"Slip Away features a full cadre of events, activities and options for visitors to this area, but it's also invaluable for those who live here to help them get to know what's in their own back yards," Dickson said. "It's full color with engaging stories, plus there's a buyers' guide in the back. Even if you think you're familiar with Lake Lanier and Northeast Georgia, it's chock full of information to encourage everyone to support tourism here."

The guides are available at the CVB office on Roosevelt Square, as well as digitally through the CVB website at www.LakeLanierCVB.com.

Also in the new marketing campaign, the bureau has two new mobile marketing vehicles designed with a "strong" message about the Lake Lanier Convention & Visitors Bureau and all it has to offer to the community.

"The car and van are colorful and eye-catching," Dickson said. "They will be seen all over the region and will increase visibility for our tourism and attraction partners, as well as driving people to our website for up-to-date information."
