Liquor store robbed

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
GAINESVILLE - A Gainesville liquor store was robbed Monday night, prompting a brief manhunt in one part of town.

Police say the robber was wearing a ski mask and dark clothing when he walked into Kelly's Capers on Broad Street about 11:15.

Lt. Floyd Canup said the man took money from the cash register, stole a car belonging to a customer and fled the scene.

Canup said the car was found a short time later at Myrtle Place Apartments on Myrtle Street. Tracking dogs from the Hall County Sheriff's Office were used to try and locate the suspect, but the search was unsuccessful.
