GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville City Council has delayed action on a resurfacing project involving 15 streets.
Council members decided they need more information about the work, which is expected to cost around $700,000. The project calls for the resurfacing of 3.26 miles on the following streets:
Kensington Place, Kensington Way, Forest Avenue, Bradford Street Extension,
Lake Pointe Drive,Laurel Springs Drive, Lakemont Drive, Long Oak Drive,
Sylvan Park Drive, Mountain View Circle, Mountain View Drive, Stonington Court,
Airport Parkway, West Ridge Road, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Springdale Road.
Meanwhile, a state DOT program that helps local communities around the state pay for road repairs is the latest casualty of state budget cuts, to the tune of $52 million.
The legislature and governor must still approve the cuts.
