Softball: Buford drops to No. 2; White Co. ninth

Despite winning its 10th straight contest, the Buford softball team dropped from the No. 1 spot in the latest GaSports.com softball coaches poll released Tuesday.

The Lady Wolves (25-2-1) fell to No. 2 even though they won their first game in the Region 6-AA tournament on Thursday, defeating Greater Atlanta Christian 5-2. Buford plays again in the tournament today.

Also in Class AA, area teams East Jackson, ninth, and Union County, 10th, remained ranked.

In Class AAA, Creekview moved up, jumping to No. 3. The Lady Grizzlies went 12-0 in Region 7-AAA this season and will begin play in the region tournament Tuesday against Gainesville.

White County also moved up to ninth in Class AAA. The Lady Warriors defeated Johnson 15-0 in a region play-in game on Monday and will take on West Forsyth Tuesday in the 7-AAA tournament.

In Class AAAAA, Mill Creek registered at No. 3, while North Gwinnett sits in seventh place.
