Dawson County employee organizes food drive

By Staff
DAWSONVILLE - In recognition of Hunger Awareness Month, Dawson County and City of Dawsonville employees are participating in a food drive to support Ric Rack. Providing food for needy Dawson County families throughout the year, Ric Rack reports their food bank is very low and in need of supplies.

Karen Armstrong of the Dawson County Board of Elections organized the food drive, and said she hopes to see the event collect enough food to feed at least 50 families for a week.

"Times are tough with increasing costs of gas and food," Armstrong said. "I just wanted to make a difference and help out if possible. I want to give back to my community in any way I can."

Employees and citizens are invited to drop off non-perishable goods by Oct. 31 at the following locations:

- Dawson County Fire Stations: Station One, 393 Memory Lane; Station Three, 951 Harmony Church Road; Station Six, 2142 Hubbard Road; and Station Seven, 170 Dawson Forest Road West

- Dawson County Courthouse, 25 Tucker Avenue

- Rock Creek Park, 445 Martin Road

- Veteran's Memorial Park, 186 Recreation Road

- Dawson County Administration Offices, 76 Howard Avenue East
