Elephants only unbeaten team in 7-AAA; No. 1 Buford rolls

UNDATED - Gainesville is the only unbeaten team left in Region 7-AAA after a 35-16 win over West Forsyth Friday night in prep football action.

Blake Sims accounted for 294 total yards and four touchdowns as the Elephants (6-0,2-0 in 7B-AAA) scored 21 unanswered points to erase a 3-0 Wolverines lead en route to the win.

Class AA No. 1-ranked Buford got a score from Cody Getz just 10 second into the game in taking a 49-7 win over Avondale in Region 6-AA play.

Flowery Branch and North Hall kept their win streaks alive in anticipation of next week's meeting at Falcons Field with wins Friday night.

Flowery Branch (5-1, 2-0 in 7B-AAA) won its fifth straight game rolling West Hall (3-3, 0-2 in 7B-AAA) 55-7 behind 244 yards rushing from Daniel Drummond to while North Hall won its second straight game after kicking a fourth quarter field goal and then holding off a late White County drive in a 13-10 win over the Warriors.

In other Region 7-AAA action Friday, Chestatee (3-2, 2-0 in 7A-AAA) won its second straight with a 24-9 win over Lumpkin County (2-3, 1-1 in 7A-AAA). Creekview (1-4, 0-1 in 7A-AAA) got its first varsity win with a 43-7 win over Johnson (1-5, 0-1 in 7B-AAA).

In a Region 8-AA battle No. 8 Jefferson (6-0, 5-0) remained unbeaten after pulling away in the second half for a 47-20 win over Riverside Military Academy (4-2, 3-2). Dawson County (2-4, 1-4) snapped a four-game losing streak with a 27-6 win over Oglethorpe County (1-5, 0-5). Banks County improved to .500 (3-3, 3-2) with a 42-0 win over East Jackson (1-5, 1-4).
