Dogs look to keep home streak going against Arkansas

By Jeff Hart Sports Reporter
ATHENS - Georgia concludes its mini-homestand this Saturday night when it entertains Arkansas.

A win for Georgia could put the Bulldogs in second place in the SEC East if Kentucky can knock off Florida. Georgia is a perfect 9-0 at Stegeman Coliseum this season.

The Bulldogs come into the game with a 10-5 overall record, 1-1 in SEC play, having gotten their first league win Wednesday night in a 61-54 victory over Alabama at Stegeman Coliseum.

When these two schools last met, Georgia produced one of the highlights of its 2007 season, a 67-64 win in Fayetteville on Jan. 17 of last year. A look at the programs now surely reflects the sport's transient nature.

The Bulldogs Saturday will play just five of their 10 players, including only two starters, who appeared in that dramatic win. Arkansas, meanwhile, will have eight of its 10 players who competed that night in Fayetteville, but Saturday the Hogs will be under the direction of an entirely new coaching staff.

In one of the quirkiest SEC schedules ever for the Bulldogs, tonight's game concludes a trio of contests against the Western Division. Georgia, which has historically fared much better against the West, won't face another Western team until the final three games of the regular season. Its 10-game slate against the East begins next Saturday night at Tennessee.
