Jones leaving Hawaii, headed to SMU

By The Associated Press
Just days after losing in a bowl game, Hawaii has lost football coach June Jones. He has agreed to a five-year deal worth about two million dollars a year to take over the program at SMU. His agent, Leigh Steinberg, has confirmed the move.

Jones coached Hawaii to an unbeaten regular season and made the decision in the face of countless emails and pleas from fans in Hawaii.

The Warriors were humiliated in their 41-10 Sugar Bowl loss against the University of Georgia on Jan. 1, crushing a magical season in which Hawaii won the Western Athletic Conference championship.
