PEACHTREE CITY - A Wind Advisory has been posted for a large part of Georgia, including Gainesville and surrounding areas, untijl 7:00 Wednesday night.
The Wind Advisory is in effect generally north of a Fort Benning to Perry to Gibson line.
A cold front was moving across north and central Georgia Tuesday, bringing strong Arctic high pressure into the region. Northwest winds were expected to increase to 15 to 30 mph Tuesday afternoon... continuing Tuesday night through most of the day Wednesday. Wind gusts to 40 m.p.h. are possible over the north Georgia mountains. Winds in Gainesville were already gusting to around 40 m.p.h. by 2:00 Tuesday afternoon.
A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 20-35 m.p.h. or wind gusts of at least 35 m.p.h. are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles.
