DAHLONEGA - Lumpkin County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested 39-year-old Donald Lee Armstrong of Dahlonega on a laundry list of charges, including statutory rape, following his alleged involvement with a 13-year-old girl.
The investigation began when the mother of the 13-year-old met with deputies and complained that Armstrong had sent a pornographic image to her daughter on her cell phone, says investigators.
"An investigator, from the Special Victim's Section, responded to the suspect's residence," said Shreiff's Captain Jason Stover. "On the phone the investigator discovered pornographic images of the thirteen year old, and sexually explicit text exchange between Armstrong and the thirteen year old."
Investigators determined Armstrong was an acquaintance of the teenager's family and that he had been engaged in a pornographic text exchange with the girl for several months.
According to Stover, Armstrong admitted to sending the texts and the images when he was interviewed at the Sheriff's office.
"The thirteen year old was also interviewed and disclosed she and Armstrong also had sexual intercourse at secluded outdoor location on Camp Wahsega Road," he said.
Armstrong was charged with child molestation, statutory rape, enticing a child for indecent purposes, cruelty to children (1st degree), sexual exploitation of children, obscene telephone contact with a child, and electronically furnishing obscene material to minors.
