Flat Creek discussion ahead

GAINESVILLE - Historically, it's been one of Hall County's most polluted streams and now efforts to clean up Flat Creek are up for discussion again.

Gainesville and Hall County officials will host a public meeting Wednesday night on the Flat Creek Watershed Improvement Plan and Ecosystem Restoration Report.

Flat Creek, which flows through Gainesville, before emptying into Lake Lanier has been the object of numerous cleanup efforts over the years (see links to earlier stories posted below) and has been a prime dumping ground for discarded shopping carts.

The meeting will be used to introduce the project to the public, explain its objectives and preliminary results.

The meeting will be at the Gainesville Civic Center and begins at 7:00.
