Teen first to donate Vick jersey to Hall animal shelter

GAINESVILLE - When Taylor Davis, 14, heard that football fans were donating their Michael Vick jerseys to area animal shelters, he wanted to do the same thing.

The director of the Humane Society of Hall County, Rick Aiken, said the teenager became the first to turn in a Number 7 jersey to the local shelter. According to Aiken, Taylor told him, "I was a Vick fan, but I'm really disappointed in him. I don't see how or why anyone would want to treat animals badly."

Aiken said that other former Vick fans have called the Humane Society to find out how to donate their jerseys, but the Gainesville teen was the first to actually bring his to the shelter.

The jersey, like others that are donated here and to animal shelters around the country, will be used for dog bedding or cleaning up after the canines.

The Atlanta Falcons quarterback signed a plea deal Thursday on dog fighting charges, although ESPN sources said Friday he will not admit to killing dogs or gambling on dogfights.
