ATLANTA - The state's Judicial Nominating Commission has submitted recommendations to Gov. Perdue to fill a new Superior Court judgeship in the Enotah Judicial Circuit.

The Circuit covers Union, White, Lumpkin and Towns Counties in northeast Georgia.

Steven K. Leibel, a Dahlonega attorney; Murphy C. Miller, a public defender in the circuit; and Joy R. Parks, a Magistrate Judge in White County, are finalists.

The Commission has also submitted recommendations to fill vacant judgeships in the Superior Court of the Cordele Judicial Circuit, the Superior Court of the Gwinnett Judicial Circuit, the Superior Court of the Macon Judicial Circuit and the State Court of Athens-Clarke County.

All but one of the vacancies were created with the passage of two House Bills during the 2007 legislative session. The vacancy in the Superior Court of the Macon Judicial Circuit was created with the resignation of the Honorable Bryant Culpepper.
