2 dead, more hurt in bus wreck on Atlanta interstate highway

<p>Two people were killed and two were critically injured after a charter bus hit a median wall and utility poles heading southbound on I-85 near downtown Atlanta, police said.</p><p>One patient remained Sunday at Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition, a spokeswoman said. Eight other patients have been released from the hospital. Officials from two other Atlanta hospitals that treated bus passengers did not immediately return phone messages for comment Sunday.</p><p>Police were investigating the accident, which happened just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday.</p><p>Police spokesman Eric Schwartz said the driver struck a median wall and the steering parts underneath the bus broke. Schwartz said he had no new information Sunday.</p><p>The bus that had 20 passengers then hit utility poles, ejecting two people into the HOV lane, he said. It's not clear whether those two are the ones who died.</p><p>A woman answering the phone Sunday for the bus company, Atlanta-based Greene Classic Limo, said the company was "aware of the incident" but declined further comment.</p><p>The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office identified the dead as Sharon E. Murray, 34, of Dunwoody, and Gary G. Pleasant, 64, of Atlanta. A man answering Pleasant's phone Sunday declined to comment.</p><p>Schwartz said others were also injured, but their injuries were not life-threatening.</p><p>No information was available on the condition of the driver early Sunday morning.</p>
