CUMMING - Part of Forsyth County has a new ZIP code.
Effective Sunday, the Postal Service implemented a new ZIP code for more than 6,000 people in the northern part of the county: 30028. They had been a part of the 30040 ZIP Code.
A spokesman for the postal service in Atlanta said it is the only new ZIP code being created in Georgia this year and that businesses and homeowners in the affected area were notified about two months ago of the pending change.
He says it's the result of the continued rapid growth in the county.
