Nearly $8M in Hall roadwork deferred

By by Ken Stanford
ATLANTA - Nearly $8 million in roadwork, planned in Hall County by the state Department of Transportation, has been deferred for at least twelve months.

Scores of other projects around the state, totaling $7.7 billion, have also been put on hold.

One of the Hall County projects is the $2.7 million dollar installation of cable barriers on I-985.

The others involve maintenance work - mostly resurfacing.

The department's www.whatsthebigidea.us Web site details which projects have been delayed due to a lack of funds. You can access the Web site and the Hall County list - and find out the status of projects in other counties in the state - by clicking on the link below.

The Web site, originally launched December 2006 to announce the state's $7.7 billion transporation shortfall for construction projects, was the brainchild of State Transporation Board Chairman Mike Evans.
