ATLANTA - Tuberculosis patient Andrew Speaker has returned to Georgia after being released from a Colorado hospital where officials say he successfully completed inpatient treatment.
Speaker's parents met him in Georgia and is now in Hall County.
April Majors is a spokeswoman for the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness, which has been in charge of the Atlanta attorney's care while he was in
Gainesville.
Majors says until Speaker returns to Fulton County, he is the responsibility of the Hall County Health Department.
Speaker is scheduled to check in with health authorities Friday morning to begin two years of directly observed therapy -- which means health care workers will watch Speaker take medicine so they can be assured he completes his therapy.
A spokesman for the Hall County Health Department -- Dave Palmer -- declined to discuss Speaker by name. But Palmer says there's what he calls ``a level of cooperation'' among all parties involved in Speaker's case. He also says the public has no reason for health concerns.
Speaker created an international health scare when he flew to and from Europe infected with a drug-resistant form of TB.
