CUMMING - Forsyth County's new schools superintendent was named Thursday night.

Buster Evans is currently schools superintendent for Bleckly County, Ga., a job he has held for eleven years.

Dr. Evans will replace Paula Gault when she retires December 31.

"The Board of Education is very pleased that Buster Evans will be our next Superintendent. He has the motivation and the leadership philosophy that we believe can take us to the next level of excellence in the Forsyth County School System," said Nancy Roche, Chair of the Forsyth County Board of Education. "He is a man of integrity and we look forward to him becoming an effective leader in our community."

Evans will actually begin working with the Forsyth County system August 1 - working with Gault as a deputy superintendent until she retires.

"I am thrilled and honored to have been selected by the Forsyth County Board of Education to be the next system Superintendent," stated Dr. Evans. "Everything impresses me about this school district: the high quality personnel throughout the district, the community's support and commitment to education, the district's planning and vision, and so much more establish the fact that the Forsyth County School System is one of the premier districts in Georgia and the nation. I look forward to being a part of this system and working hard to ensure that education remains an asset and high priority in the community."
