Suwanee looks to the future

By by Ken Stanford
SUWANEE - Suwanee residents have the chance this week to discuss the future of their city.

Suwanee is set to embark on the process for creating its roadmap to 2030 with a communitywide meeting at 5:30 Thursday at the George Pierce Park Community Center.

Suwanee's Planning Director Marty Allen notes the importance of community visioning and citizen participation.

"A number of dramatic initiatives came out of Suwanee's 2020 planning process," he says, "including new development types such as mixed uses, the open space and parks program, and a focus on creating a viable Town Center. We expect that what will come out of this next comprehensive planning effort will be somewhat different...

"If citizens have ideas related to what kind of community Suwanee should be in the future, this is the perfect opportunity for them to share their thoughts and help shape that future."

Planning consultants Urban Collage and Glen Coyne Planning Associates will guide the City through the approximately eight-month comprehensive planning process.
