LAWRENCEVILLE - The man shot to death during a standoff with the Gwinnett County Police SWAT team Tuesday was from Barrow County. He's identified as Duncan Edward Kaulbach, 35, Bethlehem.

Police Cpl. Darren Moloney says Kaulbach had threatened suicide after a domestic dispute. The standoff happened in the Publix parking lot on Old Peachtree Road.

"He pointed the weapon at a group of officers," he said. "One officer opened fire, striking him."

Moloney said Kaulbach was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center where he later died.

Kaulbach had been arrested before on domestic charges.
