GAINESVILLE - Fire causes $15,000 damage to a home on Old Cornelia Highway Tuesday night.
The fire started in the kitchen of the home just before midnight, according to Hall County Fire Marshall Scott Cagle.
"She stated she was cooking French fries on the stove, of course that involves using grease," Cagle said. "And she fell asleep."
Cagle says unattended cooking is the number one cause of fires in Hall County.
"Be careful and never leave grease of any food cooking unattended," Cagle said.
The woman who lives in the home suffered only minor smoke inhalation.
