ATLANTA - A state agency and two private companies have been fined a total of $119 thousand by EPD for water quality violations in northeast Georgia.
According to postings on the agency's Web site, another state agency - DOT - was hit with the largest of the three fines, $50,625. It was for storm water discharges associated with the widening of U.S. 441 in Rabun County.
Fieldale Farms was fined $35,808 for a sludge spill from its Stephens County rendering plant.
Yargo LLC was hit for $32,000 for storm water discharges at a project in Barrow County.
